Frequently Asked Questions about I-20 Documentation

  1. What is an I-20 document?
The full title of the I-20 document is “Certificate for Eligibility for
Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status For Academic and Language Students.”
  2. Do I need an I-20 to study at the ELI?
You need an I-20 if you want to apply for an F-1 Student Visa.

First you must complete the application process to the ELI.
We will send your I-20 when we accept you as a prospective student.
  4. How do I obtain a Student Visa (F-1)?
You must apply for a Student Visa (F-1) at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate
